Project Title: 3D Scanning (Architectural and Construction)

Motivation: Scan architectural features and incorporate them into a GIS.

Platform: Cyra

Summary: We have been experimenting with 3D scanning. The Port of Tacoma graciously allowed us to scan (using a Cyra scanner) some of the new construction happening at the Port. Our goal was to scan various architectural features and incorporate them into an overall GIS for the Port. To a large extent this has been successful, but the scanners collect far more data than a GIS can easily digest. Because of this some level of generalization needs to take place. Examples from the scans are shown above.
